It may seem strange to you for a toy company to be showing you this, telling you this. But since we profoundly believe in the power of a child’s imagination, we have to! We want to...
We’ve all seen a child’s sense of wonder at play—literally. In a child’s hands a stick is a wizard wand, a box is a babydoll bed, a rock is an amulet, the paper towel tube is a telescope.
Open-ended play inspires creativity and problem solving, and nourishes that sense of wonder in ways that many toys on the market cannot.
At B. we celebrate the magic of children creating their own toys out of found objects. The right of children to play. And their freedom to play for play’s sake. And when we design toys we do so with unwavering commitment to children exploring, discovering, imagining, creating. As our tagline says, to JUST B. JUST YOU. B. YOU so that kids can be themselves—by being children first!
I shared with you a few weeks ago that we had brought B. toys to Kenya to children who had never seen such toys, such objects designed for play. Honestly, while they were mesmerized and utterly appreciative... they had play figured out on their own. Whether chasing goats around giggling all the way, or making a soccer ball out of plastic bags and twine, their raw, unadulterated imagination shone through in spades. They had us toy designers beat because, with no resources to speak of, they had designed toys for themselves. Toys will be toys. Kids will be kids.
As it should B.
